Machines | WRR TV: Lazzaro and Figge Crash at Road America - A Bystander's Perspective
videos | at work | information | view | construction
See the crash of the #61 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of Anthony Lazzaro and K-Pax McLaren 12C GT3 of Alex Figge at Tturn 1 from the dashcam view of the #25 Reiter Engineering Lamborghini Gallardo, which ended up having a front row seat to the incident as it unfolded. Coming out of Turn 1, the #61 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 of Anthony Lazzaro loses grip and spins, resulting in an unfortunate situation where the car rolled back out into the racing line before other drivers had time to react. The Lazzaro's 458 ended up directly in the path of the K-Pax McLaren 12C GT3 of Alex Figge, and with nowhere to go, Figge broadsided the 458 at high speed, sending debris across the course and resulting in unrepairable damage to both cars. The best news to come out of the incident is that both drivers emerged from their cars more or less unhurt. I'm not familiar with racing or much of racing rules. Can someone tell me why cars continue to race after horrible crashes like that? For starters, the track is now cluttered and unfit to continue racing. And second, there are potentially hurt people on the track. Why wouldn't you stop your car at the pits to step out of the way of way or maybe stop it in the grass to help someone out? It seems so cold to just continue through the wreck like nothing happened

Why did'nt the Mac brake when he saw the Ferrari skidding? The chances were big it would come infront of him, and it did.
