i guess there 's a mistake
the magnetic poles of armature and those of rotor don't face directly to each other, there is a angle -

1:42 why the number 120? Here in europe we do have ns=60*f/p, where 60 stands for seconds in 1 minute, but cant find anywhere explanation for the 120 in your version.
