I had the opportunity to watch one of the teams in action about 3 months ago. They were relaying ties along the tracks in downtown Slidell, Louisiana.
Very efficient and fun to watch. Nary a wasted motion.

Obvious that the most important men in this process are the two manual spike drivers as they have eyes on every rail and tie. Any error they find, fix or report.
