http://www.thiswaytofreedomnow.com - Hi it's Brian Carnes. You are watching this video because you just type in What are the Pros and Cons of being a Land Surveyor. I've been a Land Surveyor for over 18 years and there are many Pros and Cons of being a Land Surveyor. I made a list of them and I'd like to over them with you in case you are looking to get into a Land Surveying Career or looking for a Land Surveying Job. These a some things you should consider when pursuing a Land Surveying Career. One Pro of being a Land Surveyor is you get to work outdoors. You get to be around nature and see lots of wildlife. Which is really cool. I love the outdoor and I love wildlife. I get lots of sun as you can see. A Con is you have to endure bad weather: rain, snow, mud. If that doesn't appeal to you I would steer clear from it. Another Pro is you get lots of exercise. I like to exercise. A Con is the risk of getting bitten by rattlesnakes. I have had many encounter, thank God I've never got bitten. Another Pro is you are always learning you are always using your brain, which is cool. This helps you grow. I like that. A Con is the risk of getting stung by bees. I am allergic. It hurts like a knife of fire when I get stung. Another Pro is it's fun and adventurous. You are always doing things. You are always hiking. A Con is Not Consistent Work. When the weather is bad sometimes you just don't work. That sucks. Sometimes the work is not consistent.A Pro is there is something new every day. You never know where you are going to go and what you are going to do. You could be in the mountains one day, you could be in the city another day, which is exciting. A Con is there is always the risk of traffic and getting hit by a car. I've had a lot of close calls. A couple of times the instrument got hit instead of me, thank God. That is definitely a Con. Another Pro you are creating things that will last. Buildings, Street Subdivision, Housing Tracts, Highways, Pipelines. Which is exciting. You are part of the whole progress of mankind. A Con is the pay is ok. Some people can make a living at it and other people have to supplement their income. Another Pro is you get to be a part of the beginning of the construction process. You are first on the scene, which is really cool. you get to be the first one there and sometimes you are the last one there. You are actually part of the whole process, which is really cool. A Con is you have to deal with hostile neighbors. These people don't want you on their property even though you have the right to trespass. Those are some Pros and Cons of Land Surveying. Going back to the financial part. Some people can make a living at it and other people can't. I actually have had to be supplementing my income with a business I just started with some friends online I'm actually transitioning out of Land Surveying and will be doing this full-time very soon to be making 6 and 7 figures.
