Machines | Welsh Highland Railway - Pont Croesor Loop South Point Install 1 27/02/10

This video shows the positioning of the second point required for the Welsh Highland Railway at the site of Pont Croesor station, Prenteg, near Porthmadog, on Saturday 27 February 2010. This is the point at the south side of the loop (Porthmadog end). The point arrived in two sections and was delivered by lorry and positioned on the track, one section on top of the other. This was pulled into position by dragging it using Planet locomotive Upnor Castle, before it was installed by the Black Hand Gang WHR North Wales track gang. This involved joining the two sections, jacking them up together, then dragging out the exisiting rails and sleepers installed underneath, before dropping the point. This video shows the top section of the point being dropped into position by dragging it off the bottom section.
