The US Army Corps of Engineers Field Research Facility, in partnership with Resolute Marine Energy and the UNC Coastal Studies Institute, recently deployed a wave energy converter adjacent the the research pier in Duck, NC. The device converts the surging wave action to energy through an oscillating hydraulic paddle that drives a generator. The device will remain in the water for testing through the end of January 2013.
