At the risk of stating the obvious, you guys down under are always complaining about how "balls hot" it is, why not put some of that sunlight to use in concentrated solar, AKA solar towers? (See Seville, Spain for a hint)

We know the solution, the problem is corrupt leadership and the Abbott administration who think "coal is the future". To the 6 people who up-voted the first comment, you're idiots, to the University of Melbourne please stop broadcasting your ignorance to the world, it's embarrassing.

Supply and demand dictates that if we all drive electric cars SOMEBODY will supply the electricity. If it's an infrastructure problem or you need more capacity on those wires SOMEBODY will invest given the correct incentives and ROI. It's going to be "fun" to watch western nations squirm out of the hyper-financialised mess they've gotten themselves into, while still maintaining some level of purchasing power, job stability and happy citizens.
What would happen if everyone drove an #electric car? Are they really as #environmentally friendly as we think?
