UPDATE: Stop the train!! Dave got 20,000 views!! URGENT: The intro, railyard, and museum songs have been found! Scroll down! This was one of my favorite films as a kid, I probably watched it 200+ times. Released by KidVision in 1994 and produced by Dave Hood Entertainment (who also was the star of the film), "There Goes A Train" was part of the "There Goes A..." series, teaching kids about trains, planes, and spaceships. This brings back a ton of memories. I remember seeing it just one time, in 1st grade back in 2001. It was one of the things that contributed to why the Santa Fe is my absolute favorites today. I was indoctrinated as it were.
-
"I didn't order the chicken" - Dave was clearly talking to HER, you idiot. lol.
-
That cab car Dave is sitting in is 9636, an ex-Metroliner delivered to the Penn Central as #816, paired with what was #817, now #9631.

Hey, man. Thanks for uploading this. I used to watch this over and over as a kid, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw this. Seriously, dude, thanks for the nostalgia!

Man I remember having this VHS tape as a kid. I had no clue this was from 94 though.

This video is probably one reason why I run BNSF trains on my HO-scale railroad layout! Lots of fun pre-BNSF footage of the Santa Fe railway, and Amtrak in Phase III colors (I miss seeing them regularly at South Station in Boston, especially the F40PHs...) Regarding the Santa Fe Superfleet diesels seen in this video, here's what I know what their status is now:
The Santa Fe FP45 (104) seen starting at 1:43 has been scrapped since 2005; prior to that it was sold to Wisconsin Central in early 1995, prior to the BNSF merger. That footage was actually shot in late 1989 for a Santa Fe promotional video.
The Santa Fe Warbonnet Dash 8-40CW Dave shows us, number 858, was repainted near the end of the 90s in BNSF "Heritage II" colors, but years later it was sold to the CN railway, repainted and renumbered as 2193, and is still operated by CN today.
The Santa Fe Dash 8-40CW at 3:15, number 914, is still owned and operated by the BNSF, and still has the Warbonnet paint scheme! But the paint is quite faded by now, and a small yellow "BNSF" was stenciled under the side road numbers.
Santa Fe 907 at 8:28 (Another Dash 8-40CW, probably) is still in use by the BNSF today, but in 2004 it was repainted in the "Heritage II" paint scheme. -
By the way, could you find the music for "There Goes A Bulldozer"?
-
I'm email pals with Engineer Bob!
-
I like the horn at 1:10

I remember watching in preschool at Forest Glen school in Glen Ellyn Illinois.

Sir! There's some maniac posing as a conductor, he's staring blank into space, he's sleeping on the job, he's spilling food and tickets everywhere, he got on-board without paying, and he's yelling out random facts about trains! Should we throw him off?
Nah, we get people like that all the time. Just let him drive, It'll be fine. -
OMG!!! Dave Hood!!! This was part of my childhood!!!
-
22:26 sounds like Ghostbusters
-
Holy shit throwing back to my childhood. This whole video is so vivid
-
16:40 I would be like wtf.
-
I used to watch this almost every weekend as a kid. I just noticed that I have the tie Dave is wearing as the conductor. I think my mom got it off ebay when I was growing up :P

"To find out more about trains, visit your local library."
Oh the pre-Google days... -
O(h, ahahahah :D

AWESOME! I can't believe I finally found the names of some of the music from the Real Wheels series! I was wondering, is there any possibility that you could identify the music from "There Goes a Truck"?
