thank you i commented before i read yours and yes i don't dog down unless it is rip rap and even then not often just take it easy and make sure its dumping for you raise too high. Little bit of ballast under the rip rap and it will come right out.

ok just so everybody doesn''t think there so unsafe when you dump these the "dog to the rail" chains with tongs that hook over the rail to keep it from rolling over and you really don't need them unless its rip rap like they're dumping regular rock or ballast will usually come out easy enough you can spread it too

The guy dumping is in an extremely unsafe zone. The truck is on a stance even more narrow than normal. Regardless of how minimal the risk of flipping, it is still there. I can see health and safety having a fit over this, operator should be in the cab, and nobody should ever be that close to a truck thats dumping.

@4spdroadrunner I would think it would have the rail grabs I agree with the operator being in the cab but not with the high lift gate many thousands of trucks haul rip rap with conventinal gates and never have an issue. We have hauled many loads of rip rap and boulders in RTAC end dumps and never wrecked a gate.

@dmcgiveron I operated a rotory dump for 22 years on Metro-North Railroad in New York. I had the first rotory dump truck in New York in 1984. My trucks (I had 3 new ones in 22 years) only had in cab controls. I would never stand where that operator is standing. You don't need the rail dogs for every dump, but yes when I dumped rip rap like that I used the rail dogs.

I have never seen that system before... in europe we have the 3-way dump system the last 80 years or so.. you can theck one of my favorites if you want to see it. I think thats little less complicated.

hey hey hey not so rough lol
-
what rail road was this for an do you work or em
-
Now I HAVE seen everything!! Thats just plain cool!!

The new ones have a remote control on the outside of them also. You can control them from the out and inside of the truck

Why aren't the controls in the cab standing beside a dumping truck is pretty dangerous especially with rock that big.
