History Jack Johnson, the former president of Steiger, formed Titan Tractors of Fargo, North Dakota in the early 1990's to offer the regions farmers abasic solid 4wd tractor at a reasonable cost as the original Steiger tractors had. His concept was to take in high hours used Steiger 4wd tractors and rebuild them. Titan Tractors were short lived because the same potential strengths of Titans were their ultimate downfall. The old tractors were stripped down and rebuilt with new or reconditioned power trains and engines froma number of top brands such as Caterpillar Inc., Cummins and Detroit Diesel. New modern electrics and instrumentation replaced the original basic systems fitted in new cabs with tinted glass and air conditioning etc. Modern hydraulic systems and linkages added to operated today's sophisticated implement trains. Because old Steiger components were used, and was time spent repairing the old chassis, it slowed down production efficiency, raising the overall costs. The production problems caused the Titan price to be very close to the price of current model new tractors of similar horsepower. It is said that only 12 Titan models rolled out of 4050 West Main Avenue, Fargo, North Dakota
