Machines | The REAL Wagga Wagga in the 1960s
videos | at work | information | view | construction
We've all seen the 'Life in Australia' video showing Wagga Wagga in the 1960s. This is the unedited version that was not shown because the original narration was considered too politically incorrect for this day and age. In the interest of historical accuracy I have leaked the unedited version. Enjoy! An original short comedy by Rhys Halliwell. Not in any way affiliated with the National Film and Sound Archive. Hysterical. My partner grew up in Wagga Wagga Says a lot really. God bless him I do love him but ill be sure to buy the right cleaning chemicals at the grocery store. I wouldn't want a right hander. Oh and p.s. this is so not racist you mong!

And, further, the mention of the female presence in this production. This reminds me of something I heard on the CB radio in 1982 in Wagga Wagga. A truckie said about the profusion of young, eligible females in Wagga, " Geez, they breed 'em well down here ". He was referring to all the pussy about in Wagga, compared to where ever else his truck driving took him. Of course, it MIGHT well all be true, but its not as if I personally was ever stupid enough to try to sample that fare for myself.

A couple of things in the commentary. Jews ? There was a Jewish presence in Wagga Wagga that I noticed when I resided there from early 1979 to late 1982. One of the pawn shops there was definately Jewish. And I saw a huge, rotund, bearded, rabbi-clad, freak strolling along Baylis Stret to Fitzmaurice Street with absolutly huge bundles of cash in his hands, having exited a bank. But,,then again, Wagga Wagga IS a Liberal Party sector of the world, after all. So much so, that the profile fits.

It's actually more of a comment on how people thought in the 60s, but I'm sure there are still Wagga people who would relate to this video in a non ironic sense.

It's okay to admit that you don't get the joke.
