Machines | The Power of 2.5- vs. 3-Inch Exhaust - Engine Masters Ep. 9
videos | at work | information | view | construction
You're sitting around with your typical street/strip V-8 and wondering, should I get 2.5-inch-diameter exhaust pipes and mufflers, or should I go 3-inch? In this episode of Engine Masters, presented by AMSOIL, we will help you decide, giving answers about power, tuning, and weight on 2.5- and 3-inch systems. You'll also find out about a very simple combo for 600-plus horsepower from a 454 Chevy! Finally, thank you to our new supporting sponsors, Mr. Gasket and Earl's Plumbing! i would like to see the numbers on the 2.5 & 3" full pipe systems with no mufflers to see what if anything these mufflers do
-
Fucked up Scott weiland joke. U truly are a sandal wearing douche bag 😂
-
how about single vs dual exhaust?
-
The Scott Weiland cardiography joke wasn't tasteful man.

now try the same test on a 400 hp 350 for the guys who think they need 3" pipes on just 355 inches.
I'm sure there's a place for the three inch pipes on a small block, maybe you should save it for the people that are getting 500+ horsepower.
this should also be a different test if this was just a 454 that only put out 400 hp and 475 ft pounds.
of course, the engine that makes 600 some horsepower is going to need the bigger exhaust. -
can u guys please make a video of the same concept but with a 450hp engine? i bet alot of us would love to see the results!
-
THREE PERCENT, dumbass. You'd give up a whisper quiet, easily installed, legal and civil ride with better power below 3200 rpm for a 3% increase in top end?!?
Still spanking it to old copies of 'Car-Toons' down in your Mom's basement as well, no doubt. -
Nice presentatioNice presentation. I recently placed a super charged GM 3.8L V-6 in a 1985 Chevy Celebrity Euro Sport 2 Door Coupe. When I initially hooked up the exhaust. It had 3 inch exhaust to the cat and 2 1/2" out. I hooked that up to the existing 2" system until I could get it replaced. When I went to the muffler shop. I wanted to go 3" all the way out. But I got the same argument from the guy at the muffler about needing some back pressure. So I ended up with 2 1/2" out to the end. I could tell the difference right away between the 2" and the 2 1/2". But I thing that the 3" would have been better. I still don't really know how well it is going to run. Because I am still using the original fuel pump and it doesn't have enough volume. The engine will start to crap out at about 6,200 RPM's. I feel that with a bigger volume pump I should be able to turn out 8,000 RPM's pretty easily

Plz do a 2001 4.3L with a stock exhaust system and one with a turn down 2 and 3 inch if you could plzzzzzz there is the same talk about this so call back pressure
-
2.5" is good for under 500hp and anything above or at 500hp should be 3". It's a matter of flow. More horsepower, more flow out of the exhaust. That said, I prefer the sound of 3" on a V8 pretty much every time.
-
Yeah now take the 2.5 and cut off the tail pipes and look how good the numbers are. Tailpipes are where you really lose power.
-
So this a cutout on the collectors makes better power than a expensive muffler and exhaust system?
-
key ally lover vgsbq concept protective apparent existing apply barrel.
-
Were you kidding
when you used the ol' wives tale that the bigger exhaust would lose torque, I have known the opposite happens for 40 years now and you guys are the experts ? -
4:15 sneak diss 💀
-
I'm running a single 3-inch exhaust on my Ford 300 I6, but only about 6 feet.
-
to whome it may conxcrrn /mt/ u love qhat u do and end up recording carledas of what viewers might think , awesome possums
, vise versa. -
Do a duals vs single exhaust test
-
What is a car and how did I get here
-
Will this apply in a 4 cup engine too? Or this is just for high hp v8
