Machines | The Nostalgia Trip extension to the main line
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Running the main line to the pond reuired a track loader and a rather large cut in the hill to get the grade down to about 2%. Yep--rather steep for a railroad but another route would have required a lot more real estate, so we live with what we we can get. We'll have one 40' section that is 4% near the pond but we can run the down leg on the steep part and get the upper leg on the 2%. Shorter trains with fewer people riding each trip but again, we can live with it. We'll add about 1,200 more feet of main line, a future loading dock for visitor's and a place to park RVs for visitors.

I not only envy your having a superb railway coming but also having such a great wife who is interested as well and a great worker and partner in this enterprise.

I agree, a lot of work but the result is well worth it. Wish I had enough land to do this! Enjoy!

Excellent expansion of the shortline! Now you will have to build a remote train station. Enjoyed the latest Daily Blab edition. --Best wishes from the Commander of the Vixen--
