very interesting !
-
m4 Sherman was junk. The M26 Pershing was far superior
-
I don't understand why the M36 Jackson wasn't mentioned. That was the best tank destroyer fielded by the Allies.
-
matilda 50 mph?

I have a potential recommendation for your next video...

Starts @ 23 seconds. "I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE". -
32:10 that is wrong. The T-34/76 and T-34/85 models were produced in numbers that of around 84,000. Around 48,000 M4 Shermans were produced, and the M4A3E8, nicknamed "easy eight', had 4,500 produced

The Sherman was a bloody death trap. Nicknamed "Tommy Cookers" by the German Afrika Corps. It's only saving grace was that it could be converted to "special" roles. Interestingly, on D-Day only the British and Canadians used the special tanks - Flail, flame-thrower, bridging tanks. The Americans didn't like the weird innovations of the British inventors.

pershing came to late!!!

I believe that, if heavy tanks development had been given priority since 1942, the year reports about the Germans developing more powerful tanks with powerful anti-tank capability came in, then the M26 Pershing, M26E4 Super Pershing and their larger variant T32 would've been ready for D-Day. Maybe even the super heavy T29 and its variants,. the T30 and T34. And they would've saved A LOT of lives. While killing a lot of enemies, of course. I mean, these heavy tanks would've just decimated the German armor. Unfortunately, those who developed armored warfare doctrine at the time were complete closed minded morons who refused to accept the reality that tanks needed to be capable of fighting other tanks. As a result, a very large number of soldiers died facing the superior German armor.
-
if we compare the armour of those days to now, it is like tinfoil
-
are you the japanese had no tank to match the m3 stuart light tank, theirs is the type 95 or 97 light tank.
-
This video is so loaded with inaccuracies that I have to wonder if they actually did any in-depth research. Take the floating M4 DD Shermans this video claims "contributed greatly" during the Normandy invasion. Of the 29 such tanks allocated to Omaha Beach, all but 2 sank before reaching shore. That's because no one tested these tanks in actual sea conditions but in calm lakes with waves if any no more than a few inches in height.
-
Tanks played much minor role in WW2 than people are thinking. For instance Germans invested 6 times more on aircraft production than for armour (including assault and SP guns). How much did powers invest to land warfare? Germans 30-32%, western allied 20-25% and Japanese just about 15%. Not much compared to hype of tanks and land warfare. The war was not won by land battles but by western allied air and sea power.

a bone shaking speed of 5mph
-
Best western allied tank was the m4 firefly with the British 17 pounder
-
Although I admire and appreciate many of the tank developments, I feel it is quite sad that tanks are used as killing-machines. I think tanks could be studied as true innovations as instead; as they often encompass elements of technology, engineering, business, and hands-on proficiency.
-
The British gave a kick to the Rommel's Panzers in north Africa, sending a few back to Europe
-
british had garbage tanks compares to the germans and russians.
-
It contains SOOOO many factual errors... I should mute it, and enjoy the video....
