the easy way to hook up without any help, the stick is made out of angle iron with a curved end to fit around the loop. As the air bag inflate the stick moves to confirm a good hook

That is a great idea. Well done.
We used to pave with our truck and pup. You would have to pull in, back into the spreader and dump the trailer. Then pull ahead, WAY ahead..and disconnect the trailer.
Then back up, dump the truck and then re connect.
What I used to do was unhook, and then let the air out of the bags. I would leave the pup down about 1/2 an inch.
That way, when I backed in (had to line up by eye) you would watch the trailer. If it kicked to the side, you didn't have it...but if It simple went up and dropped back down (only a little bit) you KNEW it went over the hitch and into the jaws. I would inflate the bags, get out and reconnect.
I did it so often, I could back into the trailer, hook up, and pull away in under 2 minutes. lol.
