Most powerful row crop tractor? That's sarcasm right. Love that you think the world of the 560 and nice video , but if you think its powerful Dont get in the same field with a D17 , your not going to be happy

Those look like Deere fenders at 5:24
-
Did they ever change the rear end in the factory or was it just offered?
-
The 560 with a decent rear end is a good tractor. At least at this time IH was making a damn good deep freeze!

Our 560 diesel starts easy and other than 2-T/As, a clutch, and hydraulic pump, it's still all original. It's never been under steady heavy tillage load like flat land farms out west, but it's held up fine on our rolling hills and contour strips in eastern central Ohio. Same goes for my 460 Diesel, although it got new injectors and pump a couple years ago. They are both semi-retired now, but still earn their keep as economical hay tractors and I top dress 28% on corn with toolbar applicator and 460 because of narrow tires and maneuverability. It's gotten funny looks being a 1959 tractor with a Trimble GPS receiver mounted on it to control applicator rates, but it works great and has paid for itself many times over since new.

Where did they ever truthfully rate the 560 a five bottom tractor. Although I liked the tractor ours was a struggle with even 4 bottoms in everything but the easiest soils. We ended up chopping a bottom off and going back to 3 until we traded it in on an old jewel war horse 650 gasser antique, (loved that mule) then we had to weld it back on. We always had head and valve problems with the 560 (gas) and somebody told me once that the manifolds were to small and notorious for causing back pressure problems. That the solution was a manifold from an 806. Don't know?

Moline isn't to far from Rock Island.

I H Didn't really go belly up Tennco just merged them with case there other company

I never have heard where the 460's played into the product line. I had a 1959 460 gas, and loved it . During wet years it was the only tractor that didn't get stuck. The 1066 and 1566 were so heavy they would drop into the wet spots, and the 460 would float right through.

560 lpg is one of my favorite tractors.
-
So the M was replaced by the 450, the 450 replaced by the 560 and the 560 by the 656?
-
I think you're changing history, the super M was 48 HP and the 560 was 54. The same rear end would not break with THAT HP Increase. You should look for the real problem, the union. I have a 560 and it's and excellent tractor, It's in the original condition.

great video

The recalled rear ends also had a diamond stamp in the serial tag,(mine does). Also I wouldn't consider it the beginning of the end for IH. They produced several great series of tractors that are still in use today, and they also were able to own part of Komatsu.
-
the 560 was just a 450 with a bigger engine. The early modles were plagued with transmission problems IH solved the problems on the later models. When John Deere came our with the New Generation 10 series in 1960 it was basically the end of IH. They played catchup for the next 20 years until they went belly up in 1985.
