A short little guide on Mann Vs Machine. If you've ever played it before then you most likely know most of this. However there is a couple things that even I didn't know until doing research for this video. Or just get two of the same class but with very different cosmetics.

Well, FIst or running Urgently is bad weapon for mvm?

When a tank comes I actually like to punch it. I do believe that with the help of random crits the fists or the warrior's spirit can easily do more damage than a minigun without chewing up ammo (and it is just super fun to fist a tank >:D). let's use math:
(The following DPS are calculated at point blank, all numbers come from the TF2 wiki)
Stock minigun DPS vs a tank: 520(±20) × 0.25 = 130(±5) DPS
Natasha DPS vs a tank: 360(±40) × 0.25 = 90(±10) DPS
Brass beast DPS vs a tank: 625(±25) × 0.25 ≈ 156(±6) DPS
If we consider that crits with a melee weapon occurs 1/4 to 1/3 of the time, then:
fists DPS: 65 × [6\4 + 5\3] ÷ 2 ÷ 0.8 ≈ 129 DPS
Warrior's spirit DPS: 85 × [6\4 + 5\3] ÷ 2 ÷ 0.8 ≈ 168 DPS
(explanation: 65: damage per hit; if 1/4 hit is a crit, then 65 × (1+1+1+1×3)\4 = 65 × 6\4 = average damage after 4 hits; if 1/3 hit is a crit, then 65 × (1+1+1×3)\3 = 65 × 5\3 = average damage after 3 hits; 65 × [6\4 + 5\3] ÷ 2 = average of the 2 situation. fists deal damage every 0.8 second so (damage per hit) ÷ 0.8 = (damage per second) )
now with full firing speed upgrade (+40%) (for Brass beast and Warrior's spirit only 'cause I'm lazy):
Brass beast DPS vs a tank: 62.5(±2.5) × (0.1 ÷ 1.4) × 0.25 ≈ 218(±9) DPS
(note: (0.1 ÷ 1.4) is the new interval between two successive "shots", 62.5 is the damage for one shot)
Warrior's spirit DPS: 85 × [6\4 + 5\3] ÷ 2 ÷ (0.8 ÷ 1.4) ≈ 236 DPS
Conclusion: Warrior's spirit's DPS against tank is superior than the one of any minigun. It also has the upsides of allowing more mobility to better glue to that tank (and to run away if needed) and doesn't use any ammo. -
Use gru for melee
-
you forgot to say use binds for coordination

so scouts in mvm aren't important?

I disagree withmain and secondary weapon chosi (but we have to keep in mind I'm not a lucky plaier when it comes to machmaking with random teammates): the brass beast leaves you at a serious disadvantage if the dispencer goes down. more on this point, the sandvich is rarelly usfull to teamates in the time it takes to despawn and worse, even the robot can take it. while regular bots are hardly a problem, a gigant getting your precious snack can wreck your whole wave. personally, I equip the family buisness so I can keep firing while falling back and try to save the bomb if a faster class manages to slip trough (half dead FAN scouts "gigants", for example). I agree on the FOS. between engie, other classes being more mobile and medic revivals, ou barelly have to do all the way from spwan to front line one or two times for every wave, while snipers can take you down from the distance before you can get close enough or a teammates can take them down.
and, just let the tank go. you're a heavy, the only class less equiped to deal with those is spy (and even a fully modded etrangè have the exact same DPS of your minigun) -
i always thought the scout was part of the mvm meta
-
i think array is in this video

Do you think you can cover the new Eviction Notices? I've loved them after the new update because they don't punish you for quickly switching off of them, unlike the GoRU's mark for death. Do you think they're beter, or should I stick with the GoRU?
-
The GRU is solid for re positioning on the map, often the stock minigun is more viable on two cities than the bras beast due to its ability to re position easily without the cost of damage as that the natascha has.
On scout heavy waves (such as metro wave 3 or hamlet wave 4) natascha can be useful, but often they need to get past yourself bodyblocking, slowdown via milk, jarate, headshots, Rocket specialist and the sentry body blocking, so unless you're unfamiliar with the blocking spots its a bit niche outside of a couple waves.
Additionally, if you get right up into the groin of giant robot demos and soldiers, they wont shoot you in order to not cause mass self damage to themselves, giving you a few precious seconds to deal boatloads of damage and hault the giants progress. This stops however if they attempt to jump over your body block.
Lastly there's specific spots where heavy has a huge niche, such as at the box on the video shown where the dispenser is, where in the event of high spawns or damage, heavy can hide behind the box but still shoot over it due to the buillets coming from heavies head and not directly from the minigun. This allows you to still deal considerable damage in a pinch while concealing 95% of your hitbox from the front. -
Hello everyone before you post a comment let me answer 2 things.
1.) I just fixed the mic (thank you TheKing4562)
2.) I do not clam to be an expert in MvM so if you see something that is wrong, tell me in the comments. Or just read some of the comments telling me how much a moron I am.
Sorry if this video isn't up to your guys expectations. I've been really busy with life recently. But to make it up to you, I'll do a stream this upcoming week. -
I don't agree that '9 times out of 10, use the Brass Beast'. I think you somewhat underestimate stock. Firstly, in the current meta, Heavy only does a bit of damage to the tank as it passed him, but mostly he focuses Giants, and destroyed projectiles, that's pretty much it. Stock is really good for backing away from the fight if your dispenser gets over run, while still dealing damage.
But most of all, it's up to preference. Most people prefer stock, some Natascha, some Brass Beast and some Huo Long Heater (Good for denying spies, and if you're blocking a path, it sets any smaller robots alight). It's all up to you, but stock is better suited to Heavy's Meta role in MvM -
Generally in the MvM meta the Heavy doesn't even touch the tank. The Soldier and Demo focus on the tank while the Heavy stays up front to hold the robots back with the Medic and Engineer. Alternatively someone off classes to Phlog Pyro to focus on the tank.
