I was doing some electric motor rewinding on 2003 on a smaller scale for someone who did it in their old milking (dairy) shed on a farm.
I am by no means an expert in motor rewinding but I did rewind a small 2 pole induction motor all by myself including counting the number
of turns per coil,the coil pitch ,determining the coil type ( i.e concentric) & the former size,also the gauge of wire.
I worked for him for a year & I have been at my wits end as to why no one was wanting to train me as if they thought I wasn't supposed to that work as if I was supposed to work to what an idiot or layman is.
I haven't worked for 5 years because such a person thought I only had to work on dump (coal) trucks for WesTrac only to find out they're idiots!!!!
So what vocation did anyone in the world think I was suppose to follow???? -

There is no money as a CNC operator, CNC programmer or Manual Machinist in Kern County California; we have JD-Rush Oil Part Manufacture, Bolthouse Farms Food and Beverage, BWI-Implement Farming Equipment, TNG-Geo-Thermal, AC-Piping Oil Manufacturing, All these companies have machine shops and pay around 12.00 to 15.00 dollars an hour for the same work. If you buy your own Manual Mill and Lathe for around 15,000 for both your business. Don’t work for any company. As much as business and manufacturing jobs going out of business in California it’s very easy to by equipment for a very low price, your best bet if any of you guys want to get into the machining and manufacturing area is to build your own business and then you can make a decent profit.

I did this right out of high school 1971 to 1974. $1.67 per hour I think. I did it all cut insulation, wound coils by hand and counted turns and inserted into the generators som of them over 4 feet in diameter. I was dept.. lead man when I left
