Like every class, map awareness is pretty important. You need to be aware of where the enemies are coming from, metal/health kit spawns, when sentry busters are coming at you, and when spies are let loose on the map. When it comes to upgrade, just boost up your sentry gun speed and health, as the sentry is your main source of damage and can essentially win matches for you. If you have the sentry gun health and you still feel that you can't keep your sentry gun up, then upgrade your melee speed to be able to repair your gun even faster. If a sentry buster comes running at you, just pick up your gun, run at it (It will deploy at this point) then run back to where you had the gun stationed. You will only lose like 3 seconds doing this if you do it right, it's a lot easier than taking the chance of your gun dying. When it comes to canteens, just go with instant building upgrade or uber, it's really up to you and whatever you feel would suit your needs best. The deployable sentry gun is pretty "Meh" at best, you can't heal it, so it essentially dies every 30 seconds and the damage output is pretty mediocre. The only plus side to it is the revenge crits you can gain if you have the frontier shotgun equipped.
