The T-14 Armata was developed as a replacement to the cancelled T-95 MBT. The whole project was kept in high secrecy. First mock-up was revealed to Russian military officials in 2013. Trials commenced in 2014. The new MBT was first publicly revealed in 2015. A first batch of 12 to 32 pre-production tanks was delivered to the Russian Army in 2015. However soon after the 2015 Victory Day Parade these pre-production tanks returned to the manufacturer for improvements and further testing. Russian Army trials are expected to begin in 2016. It this tank will be adopted, full-scale production could begin in 2017-2018. It is planned that Armata will replace the ageing T-72, T-80 and T-90 tanks that become out-dated. The Armata is a new-generation tank. It is a clean sheet design with a number of advanced features. It has little in common with the current T-90 and other older Soviet tanks. Actually it it the first Russian truly new production tank since the T-72, that was adopted back in 1973. Design of the Armata focuses on heavier armor and crew survivability. Exact technical specifications of the new Armata MBT remain classified. The new tank is much bigger, than the T-90. It is nearly as big as the German Leopard 2A7. This main battle tank is operated by a crew of 3 men, including commander, gunner and driver. It is in line with Russian tank-building concept, that the tank should be operated by a smaller crew in order to reduce its dimensions and weight and improve protection. Armata lacks gunner, as the gun is loaded by an autoloader. It is worth noting that most Western MBTs have a crew of 4. The Armata might be one of the most protected MBTs in the world. It has newly-developed base armor, made of steel, ceramics and composite materials. Also Armata has a new Malakhit add-on explosive reactive armor that is claimed to be of new generation. As usual this MBT is fitted with NBC protection and automatic fire suppression systems. It has been reported that Armata will be fitted with new Afganit active protection system. It also has a new countermeasures system that reduces the chance of being hit by enemy ATGW with semi-automatic guidance. This new Russian tank uses smoke grenade dischargers of new type. All crew members are seated in a well protected armored cell. It is separated from automatic loader and ammunition. The tank has improved resistance to damage. It can operate even with penetrated armor, as far as the crew cell is intact. It is the first production MBT with such crew layout. The Armata is also a world's first production MBT with completely unmanned turret. It is armed with a 2A82 125-mm smoothbore gun. This new gun has improved ballistics comparing with the 2A46M gun of the T-90 MBT. The gun is completed with an autoloader. This tank is capable of firing gun-launched anti-tank guided missiles in the same manner as ordinary rounds. These missiles have a range of about 5 km and can also target low-flying helicopters. There is also a remotely-controlled weapon station, armed with a 7.62-mm machine gun. This weapon station also functions an commander's independent sight that gives the tank a hunter-killer capability. The Armata MBT is fitted with new fire control system. It is also equipped with a battlefield management system. Commander's and gunner's workstations are identical. It has been reported that this new main battle tank is powered by an A-82-2 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 1 200 hp. It is a new-generation engine that is much more compact than previous Russian tank engines. Engine is located at the rear. The Armata tank has 7 roadwheels. It also has a built-in self-entrenching blade and can briefly prepare itself a firing position. From the earliest stages the Armata was designed to be a versatile platform for a whole host of armored vehicles. A number of specialized vehicles, such as self-propelled artillery system, heavy IFV, armored recovery vehicle, heavy flamethrower system, engineering vehicle, self-propelled air-defense vehicle and other support machines are planned to be based on this platform. By placing the crew into the hull is the same concept of modern naval guns on ships for better crew protection with the most angled armor to the front for a tank.Leaving the top turret as a pure weapon system remotely operated from the front inside the hull.Very interesting concept,i would like to see how this performs in real combat against other main battle tanks and infantry operated anti-armor weapons systems in the future.

you know when america made that road vehicle nuclear cannon wayy back when....just a thought

love the armata overall pretty much everything about it on paper.
not on paper however you can probably see what its downfall will be purely by its first outing performance. i know the sayings about first impressions but while i have no doubt that modern russia can have great technological advancements (ever seen thier nk130 and rd180 rockets?) but i can just imagine the battle computer frezing or looking like apple maps where suddenly a commander is like "why does this thing say im 50 feet below the ground?...and upside down (when he isnt)"
i bet either its not as protected as we think or that weight is a lie. i bet the gun will work flawlessly. the drivetrain almost flawlessly. id like it more if it was amarican but i bet it would never get past congress or would be 3x more expensive limiting oroduction as everyone increases thier slice of the money cake (f22 style). -
so where is the gaming part dumbass ?

how much did Kreml pay you to make this propaganda video? lol xD

Did you say... flamethrower tank?

There's a lot of if's with this T-14 Armata, since it has no combat record I can't really make assumptions and how good it would really be, remember everyone doubted the M1 Abrams when it came out because it took over 10 years for to prove itself now look at it so I don't know
what looks to me though all this tank does it just bring Russia's armor back to the Modern Age something they haven't been in a couple decades so but being successful it's something we'll have to wait to see, (the T-72 was thought to be formidable to until in the gulf war where the Abrams and Challenger crushed them) -
Any irish tanks? But great overview!

Considering the rate of fire of a 7.62mm machine gun, they might very well stick with it, since they can pin infantry more effectively. 12.7 is great if you need to chew up an M113 or similar lightly armoured vehicle. But here, they have a big cannon to do that for them. Pinning infantry might be a more important concern, so I think that they chose a 7.62R/7.62x39mm (not sure which) machine gun for a good reason. Another thing to keep in mind is that you can store many more 7.62mm bullets than you can 12.7mm bullets.

great tank... ı love russıa

nice video. thanks!

I have to wonder though, how susceptible would this tank be to EMP weapons seeing as there is no one in the turret?

every tank has a subtle beauty

Calling T-14 from time to time as Armata not a totally right way. Armata is just a platform one of three existing at this time which can share same battle modules. All new russian armored vehicles are designed as modular systems where you can compose different type of vehicles from existing platforms, battle modules, internal modules, external modules (such as Afghanit) etc. Main idea with new generation of armored vehicles was to not just create tanks, APC's, IFV and all other types but to create different platforms and modules so you can compose vehicle you need with desired capabilites. Basis same like in Front Mission or Armored Core series of videogames. T-14 "Armata" is complex of different modules. This ideology allows to research and create only one module or platform not the whole vehicle. Also this ideology (main reason of it) allow to commanders not to think what they have and what to do with it in upcoming battle, they can compose army with characteristics adn capabilities they need right now. Thinking of Armata is only an MBT is also old way because you can take T-14 shown in this video, deinstall 125mm cannon module and install Terminator-3 module, for example. And once again - Armata is not the tank but T-14 Armata is. If you need shorten name call it T-14.

Weird question but can you do the Mark 1 tank? Just a throwback to the original tank
-
It can fire guided missiles.

Hi Matsimus. Any chance you can do the 2S25 if you haven't already? If you get round to BMD too that would be even better. Top stuff, love the channel. 👊

We are mighty Mother Russia. We are going to take on NATO led by the United States and her 200 allies while we have NO Real allies. WE are going to crush NATO with our mostly rusted out old battle tanks and outdated equipment. Just as soon as we put down our cigarettes and finish this bottle of Vodka. LOL. If there is anybody out there worrying about Russia, do yourself a favor, stop worrying. Have a good chuckle about them instead. Russia is a REGIONAL POWER and NOT a WORLD POWER. The only fucking thing they are good for is making empty threats against the West and then bullying the tiny countries on their border like Ukraine, Poland, and Latvia. Poland is now a member of NATO so the kicking Poland around bullshit is pretty much all over with. Now they are just reduced to making empty threats at Poland.

If a tank can be destroyed with one fucking hand grenade then that is a shit tank. A fucking coffin with treads.

lol of course it can fire ATGM's every tank Russia's produced with a smoothbore cannon, and even some T-55's with rifled cannons, can fire ATGM's!
