Machines | Stupid people and heavy equipment dont mix.
videos | at work | information | view | construction
This machine was tipped over by an inexperienced driver. He calls in a crane service and they try to lift a 28,000 lbs. machine with a strap rated for 12,000 lbs. You do the math!

is it ok if I use your video with a safety video I'm making for school?
-
I see you're not familiar with the New Math being taught in schools these days.
-
Top tip: don't let the people who managed to knock over the crane also arrange the picking-the-crane-back-up job.
-
if you are going to use 12000lbs rated straps, you best have 3+ of them. Failure to do so will give you this result.

"I saved a ton of money going non-union till I had to fix it, redo it, and fix it again."
-
He is not trying to lift the entire crane. You do the math. This video should be retitled "why carolinalogcrafter should not make stupid comments"
-
Typical non union crap
-
well that's what happens when you use toilet paper, instead of good lifting straps, and a decent slinger.lol

Pound for pound, synthetic slings are always stronger than steel slings. They are much more fragile when it comes to sharp edges. The operator of the crane is not trying to lift the whole weight of the forklift, only trying to stand it up. The sling appears to have broken at the sharp edges of the forklift boom. As the boom was raised, the sling slid enough to cut it. I use pieces of fire hose or carpet remnants or wood to soften the edges of loads I pick. And always ensure the rigging won't slide up as the load angle increases. As per OHSA regulations, it is, and always has been, the employers responsibility to train their employees. The employers are equally at fault.

Carolinalogcrafter, my philosophy exactly. Do exactly what the BOSS says, and 9 times out of 10, ye'll shut the whole job down. Nothing as intelligent as more money or higher position, trumps common sense every time.

I am going out on a limb here but it looks like the operator of the overturned crane....jumped into the second one and tried to rescue his own dignity!
-
See: the rest of the wall. They hang of and stop the lifting. It swing after the Cutting. Why see the man not to fail the lifting way. Not Team Working; ( The Crane Worker can´t see it. Its to match heavy for the hanging band. (Sorry for the language)

Way to go rigger!! So you just walk away like it's going to fix itself!!!
-
Looks like no one on that job had any Hoisting and Rigging training. Wretched safety program as well.
-

Helmed? whad aboud safedy boods, safedy glasses
-
Umm i think he should wearing a helmed

The strap that crane operator was using was too l light for the job, but I'm a crane operator and I have strap that are rated for 10,000. I have seen straps that are rated for 100,000. The strap also needed some protection from sharp edges of the boom.
