Machines | Star mini round baler
videos | at work | information | view | construction
We're experimenting with a Star min round hay baler. We've taken the covers off the baler so we can see how it works and to make density adjustments easier. It's being pulled by an Iseki TX2140. It's only a 14HP tractor (probably 12HP PTO). The baler is supposed to have min. 18HP, but the tractor seemed to drive it ok even at about 1500 RPM. So we think the low HP is ok, but the tractor weight was a serious problem. On the corners you'll see we're using the tractor brakes to get around the corners. If we try to lift the baler using the 3 pt linkage, the tractor front wheels lift off the ground. Also, the it's not live PTO and disengaging the PTO drive to the baler seems to disrupt it's timing and so it fails to make a baler properly (over fills the bale chamber). So we need to find a heavier tractor with live PTO.

its very slow isnt it ud be weeks baling a paddock at that speed surley lol

DRIVE FASTER!!!!

This thing is so small, you can't do anything with it!
But it's still quite cool!!!👍 -
Were i can buy this
-
Before baling hay you cut it flip it then take it, then bale it
-
that is toy
what is use of that anyway -
Hey how much does that bailer cost and where can i get one thanks for the vid

I seen the tractor and baler on alibaba. The two come up to 3200 before shipping so maybe 4500 after tariffs. Also comes with a cute little backhoe and front loader. Looks like a toy some people would get their kid. Seems like a good way to start up a hobby farm.

Cool machine, but you need to rake the grass before bailing to see how well it would work with a realistic load of grass.

I wonder what the next size up would be? I would like something maybe twice the size of that bale...maybe 3 X's. IDK..... =) Thanks for sharing!

My vermeer 605 M makes that size bale in about 10 seconds at 8 mph. i was not impressed by the quality of the bale

"On the corners you'll see we're using the tractor brakes to get around the corners."
this is stupid baler because it do not have steering -
Well it sure did work slick. But wow, you have to consider how many hours are in a day vs how many acres. Not a high volume machine by any stretch.

idiot
-
round bales would be easier to stack and store better than square bails
-
theres alot of small diesel tractors like yanmars and so on
-
Of course it could be diesel. Even some tiny garden tractors such as those made by Simplicity, Agco-Allis, JD etc have diesel options. Not to mention all the diesel sub-cuts and larger produced by Kubota, New Holland etc.
-
honestly i dont even think that small of a tractor would run deisel
-
exerimetning with settings and the tractor wasnt heavy enough nor did it have enough PTO speed to keep the baler at recommended speed
-
That's a waste of deisle
