Machines | Small Farm Tillage Equipment Demonstration Part I
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Tilling soil on small farms, urban ag farms, or market gardens for the first time, when the land area is too large for hand labor, yet too small for a tractor, using a BCS tiller (two-wheel tractor) and Berta rotary plow.

Speaks directly to my questions ... well thought out and executed -- thanks!

I'm operating a small organic farm and dug my beds with handtools, with the biointensive method of double digging. pesticides are NOT necessary.

2014 and you're spraying? It's utterly useless, except to put money in the pockets of the producers. Soil is easier to work when it's not so dry.

It would be good to see how the rotary plough actually works. All the action was done under the cover!

Quit spraying!! Are you serious??

how much does it cost this?

Great demonstration. I have the Grillo brand tractor, model G-107d, with the Berta-Franco rotary plow. Recently, I turned, 80+ year old pasture into a market garden. I did not use a "burn down herbicide". I will in the future as it took weeks to get the seed bed ready! Fortunately, I started in early winter for this project. My conclusion concurs with your findings as well. The "walking tractors" are definitely up to the task! With practice, one can build raised beds with the Berta-Franco plow to suit ones wishes. I prefer to keep mine between 12" and 48" wide depending on the crop. Thanks for the posting and good information!
