Not a quad. It's 5 axle. Owned over 30 T800's. great trucks!

all the truckers in the USA think they drive badass rigs. max gross weight 40 000 kg 18 wheelers... come up to Canada and pull 63 500 kgs on five axle trucks with 32 wheels.. now that's trucking !

hey my dad is a truck driver and his jake breake is really loud
-
Well done! There will be a day when all the 10/1318 roadrangers are all gone. Most of ours now are all automatics
-
Look like he needs a bit more practice shifting

if you want to see some REALLY amazing big-truck shifting skills, check out "Kenworth W900L 3 stick shifting" posted here on YouTube. I was trying to find someone who can explain how to do this. I've been trucking for 20 years, but never had opportunity to drive anything like this guy in the W900L. After 20 years of 1 sticking it, I don't know if I could get the hang of double or triple sticks, but I know there are still people that still have them and use them everyday. My hats off to you all.

Wow! Some of you guys are so amazed at this dudes ability to scratch gears on about 1/2 his shifts. If I were test driving him for my co. with 38 yrs. in trucking, I would tell him to shift that truck a lot smoother or you'll be down the road! No pun intended. The guy just really ain't that good, but then most drivers out there now suck pretty bad. Very few of us old school guys left...

never seen a T800 as a dump/straight truck

I think I recognize where you're at... Is that near Pickens SC?

I forgot to add that sooner or later, big rigs will have 'paddle-shift' levers on the steering wheels as well so that there will be no need for the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel to change gear. This technology is already being developed and tested in Europe so I am unaware of technological developments in America. However as in America there is a huge market for truck technology 'paddle-shifting' Kenworths are only just around the next bend in the highway folks.

Excellent vid :-) The days of many geared big rigs (10-12-15 speed road rangers) are decreasing I'd suggest. Tiptronic transmissions are increasing and so they should be. They remove the number of parts than can be manipulated and subjected to stress by more inexperienced drivers (not like the excellent driver of this rig). Or in other words wear and tear on gearboxes and clutches are a thing of the past with tiptronic transmissions. The complete drivetrain has less wear and tear = less expnses

That's an easy fix. Just pop the hood, take the steering column slider apart and have someone hold the wheel straight. Once that's done, put the column slide back together.

Awesome sounding rig......

Awesome vid. Should've done a vid of you hooking up the trailer and hauling it back though. But I know sometimes you just ain't got time for that.

what's that left foot doin' up there, put that thing on the floor where it belongs lol

Nice jake

Love it.

I thought it's a 13 gear shifter and that you're lazy to split :D

Much respect to the truckers of america

shift 1 thru 5 in low range, pull the range selector up shift 6 thru 10 in hi range. basically shift a 5 speed twice. most 10 speeds the difference between gears is about 500 rpm. if you can count down from 10, you can down shift it. a super 10 you split every gear like a 2 speed rearend. 1 lo, 1hi etc.
