OEFFA and the Cuyahoga Valley Countryside Conservancy have partnered to offer webinars and other educational opportunities designed to address the business and production aspects of managing successful specialty crop operations. These programs are made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the State of Ohio, and the United States Department of Agriculture under the provisions of the Specialty Crop Block Grant. This session is presented by Jean-Paul Cortens of Roxbury Farm in New York. With his wife and farming partner, Jody Bolluyt, the farm produces vegetables, herbs, grass-fed lamb and beef, and pork for more than 1,100 community supported agriculture members. This webinar explore factors to consider in choosing equipment for a successful specialty crop farm. Jean-Paul discusses the various pieces of equipment used at Roxbury Farm to produce vegetables and the best equipment to use for tillage, weed control, mulching, planting, seeding, harvesting, and haymaking.
