Uses satellites to aid positioning of the tractors, enabling them to have the most efficient and consistent journey when in the fields. Satellites are also used to take images of farming fields to help ensure the best possible harvest of crops based of various parameters such as growth-density (i.e. the greenness of crops) and soil-brightness mapping which will help the farmer decide where fertilisers are needed most (i.e. yield mapping). Satellite data is also used to provide improved, effective forestry management to help provide a better understanding of our forests and their impact on our wider environment. Satellite technologies are used to show both rapid / short-term changes as well as long-term changes to the forests and their biomass, thus helping with the understanding of wider ecological and environmental consequences.
