To become a Sapper, visit http://www.iguardcalifornia.com or call Staff Sergeant Brito directly at 562.900.0575 For TIPS TO SURVIVE BASIC TRAINING visit http://www.howtosurvivebasictraining.blogspot.com **SAPPER Training MOS 21B** A sapper is "considered an elite combat engineer" in the United States Army National Guard. In the French Army, sapeur (sapper), refers to the first official corps created by Napoleon I, a military engineering corp. A sapper may perform any of a variety of combat engineering duties. Such tasks typically include bridge-building, laying or clearing minefields, demolitions, field defenses as well as building, road and airfield construction and repair. In other words, a modern sapper's tasks involve facilitating movement and logistics of allied forces and impeding that of enemies." Sapping is a term used in siege operations. Any trench excavated under defensive musket or artillery fire that was intended to advance a besieging army's position in relation to the works of an attacked fortification was referred to as a sap. To wear the Sapper Tab, a Soldier must complete the Sapper Leader Course (SLC) which is operated by the U.S. Army Engineer School at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri . The Sapper Leader Course is a 28-day course designed to train joint-service leaders in small unit tactics, leadership skills, and tactics required to perform as part of a combined arms team. The course is open to enlisted Soldiers in the grades of E-4 (in the Army, specialist) and above, cadets, and officers O-3 (Army, captain) and below. As students can come from any combat or combat support branch of the service but priority is given to engineering, cavalry, and infantry soldiers. The course is divided into two Phases: Phase I lasts 14 days and covers general subjects including medical, navigation, demolitions, air and water operations, mountaineering, and landmines and weapons used by enemy forces. Phase II is the remaining 14 days. It covers basic patrolling techniques and battle drills that emphasize leadership. The subjects include urban operations, breaching, patrol organization and movement, and reconnaissance, raid and ambush tactics. It concludes with a three-day situation training exercise, and five-day field training exercise. These missions are a 60/40 mix of engineer and infantry missions. Leadership is emphasized throughout the SLC. During the course leader roles are rotated regularly and each student is evaluated at least twice on leadership. The results of the Sapper Leader Course are soldiers who are better-trained combat engineers. In their role, combat engineers use a wide variety of engineer hand and power tools. They are also responsible for construction rigging, demolitions, camouflage, field fortifications, obstacle clearance and construction, assault of fortifications, bridge erection, use of assault boats in water obstacle crossings, expedient road and helipad construction, general construction, engineer route and road reconnaissance. Combat engineering employees a wide range of transportation vehicles and equipment, and uses weapons unique to the engineers, including those used in land mine warfare. All these role activities and technologies are divided into several areas of combat engineering. The Sapper Leader Course is a fast-paced 28-day course designed to train joint-service leaders in small unit tactics, leadership skills, and war-fighter tactics required to perform as part of a combined arms team in a contemporary operating environment. The SLC is open to enlisted Soldiers in the grades of specialist (promotable) and above, and engineer officers captain and There are some skills that are both taught in the Sapper Leaders Course (SLC) and Ranger school that overlap; however, in the SLC the sappers are taught skills that are pertinent to combat engineering. The SLC is exactly what it sounds. It is an engineer specific course that is designed to forge men into Sapper leaders. The sappers that attend and graduate the SLC become experts in engineer specific tasks, infantry skills, mountaineering, and are trained to lead sappers to complete the mission despite the obstacles. The SLC differs from Ranger school in not only what was listed above, but as Ranger School is designed to further develop the skills of an infantry soldier the SLC is designed to further the skills of a sapper and develop them into Sapper leaders.

I'm a 12B. Why is there a female voice in this video? No females are allowed during my 12b Osut
-
Not to dis these guys in anyways i maintain respect for them. The amateur sappers in Ukraine are pretty badass, they're using microwave on a stick essentially to explode mines and artillery shells.
-
We were told females weren't allowed in any combat MOS because if two soldiers are wounded one a man and the other a female, instinct would lead us to help the female first, even if the male were in worse shape. Wtf happened to that mentality?
-
I was a 12B combat engineer, I didn't go to Sapper school, but I worked at HQ. I was literally harassed all the time by my CO/1SG and Sapper school instructors to go through the course, I could of had a guaranteed slot in any class I wanted, but of course I said, "hell no" every time. After seeing guys drop out of the course like flies from every branch, to include Special Forces Soldiers(yes,Green Berets), why would I put myself through that?

thanks for sharing this video- I remember a more "aggressive" version in around 2003- almost the same audio format- except it actually showed the more aggressive side of being a SAPPER- HUA

Nice that's not too bad that's actually manageable and you get to go more places too which is always a plus
-
those are only the 4 months or longer tours we generally do not do 12-18 month tours like the regular army.
-
I only have 5 tours I spent 3 yrs as an instructor. Officer or Enlisted MI either way you can get assigned to a group. It is hard to explain why SF is different but if you get into a support role you would be in a good position to assess on whether or not you like what we do and the wide range of missions we do.
-
Ahh I see so SF : identify Delta : go and get. I see so SF is hearts and minds. So all I'd have to do is become like something in 35 series and I'd be able to work within the SF stuff what if I was a M.I. Officer? I like that , that makes sense it'll let me know what I'd like to do. I hear that saying about Sappers , Jack of all trades masters of none. How many deployments do you have under your belt so far?
-
The advantage of becoming M.I. is you can serve in a Special Forces Group in a support role in the M.I.detachments 12B's don't. This will make you extremely intimate with OUR intel and focus. It will expose you to how SF operates and what we do, you would work for a SF Battalion in support of ODA's. You would have a good idea of what we do and then you can make a better informed decision on whether or not the lifestyle is worth it. Jacks of all trades masters of none.

Delta and SEAL tm 6 are the type of units who only go after individuals we or the C.I.A. identify as an individual we are interested in and of use to us. Special Forces has units who can do that that are very good in fact every A team is trained in Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat. If SF wants to capture someone we are trained to use our brains and train our counterparts to capture the person and bring them to us. Deltas main purpose is hostage rescue.
-
Delta is not Special Forces so they are not part of SF, SFG stands for Special Forces Group. Delta is not a special forces unit who lead. train an advise indigenous personnel in combat. They are a hyper conventional unit which means they do everything conventional but are very very good at it. We are guerrilla fighters we do not match up with Delta we are the type of unit who suckers a unit like a Delta unit into an ambush we sabotage and overthrow organizations.

It could set you up for something good once your Army career is over especially if you wanna get into the C.I.A. etc.
