reverse engineering the higher-level protocols used on a Ford Focus yields some impressive (and amusing) results. see this video for a UI demo showing the full capabilities of the software package: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpwBmTw7Gm0 we used the GoodThopter board, part of the GoodFET project: http://goodfet.sourceforge.net/hardware/goodthopter12/

How to install this tool?
-
what software did you use to read the CAN Data ?
-
CAN Buss actually dont have any security measure, so its easy to hop on it and send some strings so you can tell the controller to do what ever you want :) Anyway ts really fun to play with CAN devices in your car if you have the proper communicator, we had one Vector CAN reader/writer in my old R&D company and played a lot with random cars.

What app were you running in this demo? Did you use a Goodthopter or something else? Sorry, inquiring minds and all.
