This is a video about the different types of respirators that workers might use in their workplace. If your employer requires you to wear a respirator on the job, the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration - also called "OSHA" - and State OSHA Agencies require that your employer select an appropriate respirator for you. A brief overview and general information about various types of respirators and some of your employer's responsibilities under OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard will be discussed in this video. This video can be part of the OSHA-required respiratory protection training, which includes many topics, like how to put on and take off a respirator and how to use, clean, and maintain your respirator. Must have missed this part, but what respirator is used when spray painting something ? -
Hi, it seems to me that you could help me with choosing the right type of respirator for my needs. I've just started with knife making bussiness and I am looking for a good full face mask. I found a nice Drager X-plore 6530 mask with Triplex glass on ebay for a good price that I would like to buy. I need it to protect me mostly from very fine dust (aluminum oxide from grinding belts, fine dust from micarta, G10 and exotic hardwoods) but also from some gasses maybe (I use orange oil, tung oil etc. for handles). What type/combination of filters would you recommend for a knifemaker? Thank you in advance for any advice.

Great video! Most people do not know how to differentiate a respirator and a face mask. There are different types of devices for different situations. Please consult the MSDS for the chemical you're using, then you can get the proper personal protection equipment (PPE) for the task. If the proper equipment is not available, don't improvise. That can get you killed. Thanks for viewing safety videos on my channel. I really hope it helps.
