Machines | Remote Controled Cat Track Loader - 289D
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Forget buying another drone, I'm getting one of these!! Trying out Caterpillars new remote control system for their D series skid steers, multi terrain loaders and compact track loaders. This was very cool and I can see it being used in situations when you dont want to put an operator in harms way. This was honestly by far the smoothest and most responsive remote controlled machine I have ever tried. See below for some technical info about the system. Made by Caterpillar and TORC Robotics. Called "Remote Task". Its max operating distance is 1000ft. The system is transferable between units and takes about an hour to install. It can be put on 16 models of D series machines and can control all hydraulic functions on attachments. Like what you see? Nice.

Absolutely stupid your much safer in the cab and usually will have better viewing, it dangerous when u can't see the machine and it's just fucking stupid. Instead of making all this new technologies just make a machine that does not break down and lasts forever

We have here in Finland radio controlled locomotives so locomotie driver can handle shunting work alone.

Awesome advance, I am imagining a small yarder winch for selective logging. Remotely operated, so much safer. Keep the videos coming!

They use this in sink holes to fill it up

Does this mean all us operators are slowly being replaced by playstation and xbox users!
-
why not just sit in it and drive The damn thing.... still need an operator... just plain stupid

all i want is a cheap mini excavator to muck around on but they cost like $15000 second hand... damn all this new stuff is a tease haha

How is that possible is it only on the cat??
-
So what happens after you exceed the 1000' range..?
Auto stop, or just keep going to the next county?
And,
How in the hell could you see whats going on at 1000 feet away from you anyway?? -
will they do this for mini excavators
-
Thats pretty cool.Ive seen a demo of this setup on a couple of their MUCH larger machines. Was pretty impressive.
-
I'm surprised they didn't even at least give you a bucket to try on that thing.
-
That would be cool

I can see someone using this if they are alone backfilling a trench
