Never thought about it before - very impressive. Last time I actually watched track being laid it was by men and they drove spikes with sledges. That was during WWII. I see a posting in here about Gandy Dancers, and that is probably what I saw as a kid. Real work.

interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about getting a railroad job try Elumpa Railroad Jobs Alchemist (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my work buddy got cool results with it.

normally this tie layer bridge is hooked to the TRT909
-
Does anyone know the ame of this machine and How much it would cost?
-
its cool to actually watch how this works since i made & helped load the concrete ties in Spokane, WA for CXT.

It's amusing that with all the mechanization of the track laying machine, someone still has to walk alongside of the machine (each side) & clean the rail fastening beds to receive the rail. You'd think the design engineers would have foresaw the need to clean the fastening beds & added rotary brushes/compressed air cleaning mechanism. Impressive kit nonetheless.

No. That is limestone rock that was compacted with heavy rolling equipment.
-
Is that a concrete bed they are laying the ties down on?
-
Impressive. I guess this is why fewer people are working :-)
