The department is QCAA Part 147 approved and has been providing training for the airlines and MRO's for many years and was granted EASA Part 147 in January 2010. The approval covers the B1.1, B1.2 and B1.3 Licence categories. Recently the department also began delivering courses for airport technicians which meets ATSEP requirements. Courses Offered B1.1 AEROPLANES TURBINE B1.2 AEROPLANES PISTON B1.3 HELICOPTERS TURBINE ATSEP AIRPORT AVIONICS TECHNICAN (non-approved) Why to choose this Course These approved courses will gain you entry to a fast growing market with exciting opportunities to join airports and airlines throughout the world. The nature of the courses means you will have transferrable skills in a fast changing industry. How Will I be taught The course is broken down into modules and you will normally study one module at a time by highly experienced licenced engineers from the aviation industry. For the aircraft maintenance course the final part of your course will be 10 weeks work experience in Qatar Airways hangars . The ATSEP course will also include elements of OJT at the New Doha International Airport. Classrooms are wirelessly linked and utilize state of the art interactive projectors and smart boards. There are a range of excellent training aids and equipment to enhance your learning experience. The College also boasts a dedicated aircraft maintenance training hangar with a functioning Falcon 20 aircraft. All students will study: Maths, Physics, Electrical Fundamentals, Electronics Fundamentals, Digital Techniques and Electronic Instrument Systems, Materials and Hardware, Maintenance Practices, Human Factors, The Aircraft Maintenance Engineering students will also study: Aerodynamics, Aviation Legislation, Aircraft Systems (Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Landing Gear, Structures, Fuel Systems etc.) Gas Turbine Engines and propellors. The ATSEP Airport technician students will also study: Basic ground Avionics Engineering, Communications Systems, navigation Systems, Surveillance Systems, Power Supply and Safety Systems. How will I be assessed For the Aircraft maintenance technician at the end of each module you will be required to take the QCAA/ EASA approved multi-choice question examinations which vary in size dependent on the module. There are also 4 short essay examinations and the pass mark for all examinations is 75%. For the ATSEP course the assessment is a combination of multi-choice and short answer questions and the pass mark is 70%. What are the opportunities for experience _ study abroad Once qualified, the aircraft maintenance engineering graduate can expect to be able to work anywhere in the world as the courses both QCAA and EASA approved and are internationally recognized. The ATSEP course provides the foundation for entry into any airport equipment maintenance department. After graduation,what job I will obtain The approved Part 66 Basic Training Certificate allows you to fast track into the industry such that the time taken to submit your application for your Licence is only 2 years rather than 5 for an unapproved course. To gain employment into the aviation industry will require a licence and this course will provide you with the knowledge and certification to achieve this. At the end of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course you will be expected to complete 10 weeks (350 hours) Practical Work experience at Qatar Airways hangars with whom QAC has a contract. The ATSEP course includes OJT at various times throughout the course. Ground Avionics Engineering Technician This course is prepared in accordance with ICAO ATSEP Training Manual (ICAO Doc 7192 Part E-2). It offers a complete package for the ATSEP training combining the Basic Training and Qualification Training. The first part of the course follows the same modules as for Aircraft Technicians in addition to other modules. The Trainees then study CNS/ATM (Communication Navigation and Surveillance/Air Traffic management) Engineering Systems. The ATSEP course integrates elements of Practical Work Experience (PWE)/On Job Training (OJT) which are conducted at the Doha International Airport. The assessment is by EASA approved MCQ, Essay, Short answer Question examination and Practical assessment. Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical) This is an European Aviation Safety Agency approved program that meets the requirements for the B1.1 Licence. Students study 13 modules ranging from basic maths to advanced aircraft systems and gas turbine engines. The course completes with 350 hours (10 weeks) Practical Work Experience (PWE) at Qatar Airways maintenance hangars in Doha. Assessment is by EASA approved MCQ and Essay examinations.
