12. Man they were just asking for someone to get squished. All those people walking around and the idiots on the golf carts and forklifts. I work with these trucks and bigger ...Komatsu 980E autonomous but they are only on their own in the mine. Everywhere else someone is in the cab. I have great respect for the danger posed by working around these machines and no one except for escort spotters are aloud within 30M while they are in motion around the maintenance yard. As for lost jobs, hell yea there will be lost jobs. We have 30 autonomous trucks so far. at this time they are still testing so there is an operator in the cab watching everything but eventually they will no longer be needed, that's the first 30 jobs. if the company goes all autonomous then 300+ jobs will be gone.

15. i don't see any sense to a vehicle like this when someone has to be there to baby sit it ,,, put the cab back on it for a driver not to mention this thing will be putting drivers out of work

18. For those who do not know a mining environment, it seems useless an autonomous truck. But for those who know a little harsh environments, he knows it is becoming a necessity. They allow a safer environment for dangerous activities to man, and become every day more reliable than man. In a mine, it is now possible to control autonomous equipment with a dispatch system, and automate the operation, gaining productivity and safety across the fleet that moves ore. Someday, even urban car will be controlled by some more reliable systems and accurate than the human eye. This technology will allow disabled to drive people to move as anybody. And why not in mine? Congratulations to Komatsu and your engineers, a pioneer in this technology.
