I have a question I've noticed I went about 15 mins of shadowboxing yesterday today I did it for 6 (because I didn't know I had track practice) and when I was running I noticed my right arm would tingle and jerk back really fast and it hurt could this be because of boxing? is it something I'm doing wrong hitting the heavy bag or shadowboxing etc? Can somebody please answer

i didnt use wraps or gloves for the first 12 years i had my heavy bag(got it when i was 8 years old) i started using wraps and 16oz gloves and sprained my wrist a dozen times in the last two years. Seriously be careful with gloves, they will fuck up your idea of where your hand is in relation to the impact zone and your wrist. Be careful.

because of not knowing i made many mistakes in the past. Started boxing without wrapping my hands etc. and i had broken my hand before. I stopped boxing for a while and started doing some calisthenics and my wrist started to pain. I went to the doctor he said the cartilage is worn. It will not get better, he said i should go slower with my training. I wanted your advice now im doing a 3 months pause than i will start again with thai boxing. Any tips??? please help

After watching this video, I think I need to go to a new Boxing gym/class! The class I have been going to has me hitting the heavy bag for almost 30 minutes non-stop...my knuckles, wrist/hands are fried.

Thank you very much, God bless you !!!

I wish I had watched this before joining my boxing gym! I was going about 5 days a week hitting the heavy bag for 30 minutes to an hour. Now I have boxers knuckle. It has only been a little over a month and my hand is already damaged. Could have been my gloves too but I am pretty sure it was just the repeated stress on my hand...

Im always hittin my thimbs when doing uppercuts when hitting other peoples arms. Botht himbs got sprained over a month ago and still feel they are not back to what they were. Ive been watching my technique, changed gloves amd feel like im still hitting my thumbs on uppercuts. This doesnt happen to other people. Any help, tips or suggestions?

very informative video man..awesome!... got a question though,..would u recommend training with open hand palm strikes instead of punches (if youre just training for street self defense only)? that way, you dont have to worry about wrist injuries.. and also, is it true that vertical fist also prevents wrist injury?
-
so im just training with the heavy bag for exersize so i guess i should just use weights instead of punching the shit out of it lol its the only way i could really build my stress in my arms but i couldnt go long enough to get the work out i wanted cause my wrist are already fucked up from skating along with my knuckles from no hand wraps as a kid we got this weird speed bag thing that i would hit all day lol where hand wraps and not the shitty glove ones buy the band wraps

i hurt my back because i punched a bag that does not move
-
johnny this may sound kind of a dumb question but how i hold my hands inside the glove, like should i always make a tight fist, or can i open my hand to relax when im not punching? and how tight my fist should be when unloading, is more tighter that equals more power, can you talk about this subject real quick? thank you!

Thank you

Physics shows us smaller hands should actually do more damage. Unfortunately they will get hurt more as well.

Got it, thanx.

I'm speaking in relative terms. As in the pros do not use the heavy bag as that much of their training. At best the heavy bag is maybe 10-15% of their conditioning. Whereas for the average guy in the gym, the heavy bag might be as much as half of his training...which is too much.
