Machines | P-000002 Scion FR-S Precision Clutch Disk Alignment Tool - Engineering Journal - Part 3

While installing the clutch disk into my Scion FR-S (Subaru BRZ) (Toyota 86), i spent almost two hours struggling with getting my transmission to mate to the engine block. Eventually, i took the transmission back down, and noticed that the alignment tool had deformed from the weight of the clutch disk, and without noticing, i had tightened the pressure plate down onto it. I was outraged! I had to remove the alignment tool, examine it, then replace it and manually align the clutch disk to make up for the low-quality plastic tool. This precision steel alignment tool is designed specifically to replace the unreliable plastic ACT "AT90 - Alignment Tool". http://www.advancedclutch.com/at90 This reliable steel tool was precision-engineered through the use of my OEM clutch disk, pressure plate and flywheel for highly accurate dimensional references. I then performed an FEA (Finite Element Analysis [Stress Analysis]) on the new precision steel alignment tool, to verify that it will not sag.
