Soil testing and a $350,000 investment in new machinery is already paying dividends as part of a new more precise and efficient approach to farming for Central Queensland grain grower Paul Heit. Mr Heit, who farms at Jambin with his father John, said the new strategy had delivered significant labour savings during planting in early May, plus the prospect of an improved result at harvest by better matching fertiliser to soil needs and sowing in a tighter window at the right point of the season.
