Man that's unfortunate, all that financial backing by Toyota & this team never won anything, makes me wonder what went wrong, did they not have the right engineers or did they not have the right drivers?...or was their competition just that good. Disappointing, well at least Toyota is making strides in LMP1 in the WEC

All these car companies hire people based on your university. Your job right now is to get good grades in high school and work hard to get into MIT, Stanford, GaTech, Purdue... any top ranked university will get you where you want to go, if youre up for it. Keep aiming high!

@Ahmedroasters Im starting 3 years of mechanical engineering next year. And planning to work for a German car manufactorer when im finished. Audi for example offers internships for mechanical engineer students, great way to get in the business. I sent you a website link i your youtube mailbox.

teams come and go, but many of the teams come from other teams. for example, all the guys working for mercedes gp this year were working for brawn last year, and then honda before that, and some of them even BAR before that, and then some of them even Tyrell before that. if it's what you really want to do, then you just have to deal with the competitiveness of a particular field. because if it wasn't a cool job, then it would be easy to find work! do it cause you love it, not for the money.

I know this all too well. I have my mech engineering degree and was barely making more than min wage, thats why I became an auto tech. I make more than double what I did from wrenching, which is honestly bullshit but I'm still doing what I enjoy. But if I knew it would end up this way I would still get my engineering degree just knowledge's sake. Anyways thats my whole point that are hundreds of more employable and lucrative fields an engineer can utilize his skills in besides the auto field

I definately agree, but I also believe most will be more successful in a field they are passionate about. If you really enjoy what you're doing it makes up for the lack of stability and crappy wages. But honestly anyone with the skills required to become a race team engineer shouldn't have any issues making a decent living. Those skill sets applicable to many more practical fields of work too.

Get a mechanical engineering degree, some schools have automotive engineering programs too. MIT actually has a very good one, if you can get in.
