Now you can enjoy the best commercial in our new website: http://abancommercials.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/abancommercials Equipped with a 2.2-litre diesel engine and 173 horses under the bonnet, the CX-5 from Japanese car manufacturer Mazda delivers quite a punch. The 0-62 mph sprint is completed in 8.8 seconds and the car's top speed is 126 mph. Stocky but good-looking That's not at all bad given that this is an all-wheel-drive sport utility vehicle (SUV). The motor is attractive in a stocky kind of way and stands out from many other vehicles on the road. In the high-up-the-range 2.2 175ps 4WD Sport Nav model, on test here, you get all the frills, including leather seats, climate control, and sat nav. But, as a doting father of three small children, what really impresses me is that it's on record for being one of the safest cars on the planet, so it's a good family car. Five-star safety rating That makes any parent feel immediately reassured. The CX-5 achieved top marks in all categories of the tough Euro NCAP car safety tests. Its grades for adult and child occupant protection and safety assist systems were well above the threshold in each category for the maximum five-star safety rating. The first of a new generation of Mazda models, the CX-5 is also the first kitted out with the ground-breaking SKYACTIV body. Let me explain what that means. Robust yet light body With the aim of developing the ultimate car body, Mazda's engineers went back to the drawing board. They rethought the elementary principles of structure, materials and manufacturing methods. As a result, high-tensile steel, which is extraordinarily tough, not to mention lightweight, comprises 61% of the body. The Mazda CX-5 therefore not only delivers enhanced crash safety, but is also tremendously light. Behind the wheel, the driving position is upright and the seating is comfortable. Impressive on any surface The Mazda's six-speed manual gearbox is slick and the CX-5 hangs on to the road well. It will also handle off-tarmac surfaces because of its all-wheel-drive system. The Mazda CX-5 has liberal front and rear legroom and a roomy boot (463 litres) plus a premium feel, superior functionality and low noise levels for a pleasurable ride. Easy-to-use features include three-piece split folding rear seats with release levers in the cargo area and a cover that opens and closes with the tailgate. This is very handy as it keeps the contents of your boot hidden from prying eyes. 'Textbook vehicle solution for young families' In many ways this SUV is a textbook vehicle solution for young families. This is mainly due to the vehicle's safety, best-in-class luggage space and flexible seating arrangement - as well as class-leading CO2 emissions and respectable fuel economy. It's also a talented towing vehicle and will lug up to 2,000 kg. The only shortcoming for this specific model is the price-tag. Steep price-tag If you go into a dealership with £30,000, you'll find only a small amount of change jangling about in your pocket afterwards. But safeguarding your family comes at a price it seems. I would rather have a car like this in which to traverse the narrow country lanes to nursery, school and work than, say, a comparably priced, German car.
