looking for universal for Farm King 990

to be honest you are better off jump starting the tractor directly from the starter those batteries have a nasty habit of wobbling into the drive shaft over time

The Agway GT-16 was the same tractor with a different label. I used to have one with Johnson 36" loader. Some of them had Bolens transaxles and others were Peerless. After going through two Peerless transaxles in three years I removed the loader and sold it for more than I paid for the tractor. I used the engine and a hydraulic pump and piston from a different loader to build a wood splitter. I have been told that the Bolens transaxles were more reliable than the Peerless but I can't confirm it.

I see that this video was done 4 years ago. Do you still have the MTD? I have one, but I need to either rebuild or find someplace to rebuild the hydraulic pump or pumps, it was slipping when I parked it! I have everything that was available for it except wheel weights. I have a 50" PTO mowing deck, 42" PTO tiller and a 50" push blade. Any suggestions on the pump rebuild would be appreciated.

My grandpa had a tractor just like that. We used it to mow around his farm and pasture. A lot of power and ran great.

I just bought mine today. 14hp Briggs. I'm guessing by the gas tank mine is a few years older that this 16hp. I can't find any model numbers on mine for the engine or the tractor.
In my searching last night for what exactly my tractor manufacturer and model was, I read that MTD bought out White back in the day so my guess is that this model MTD is heavily influence by the White buy out.
If someone has a 14hp B&S on this body style MTD, earlier than this one, if you can send me some model type and serial numbers it would be greatly appreciated. -
Mines a 1973

This machine is likely a 1977-84 model because of the red paint. May I ask you what the model, type and code #s on the engine are, as that would be a clue as to how old your machine really is?
1977 (147-990A): B&S 326431, type 0228-01
1978 (148-990A): same as 147-990A
1979 (149-990A): same as 147-990A
1980 (140-990A): B&S 326437, type 0328-01
1981 (141-990A): same as 140-990A
1982 (142-990A): B&S 326437, type 0678-01
1983 (143-990A): same as 142-990A
1984 (144-990-000): same as 142-990A -
DO YOU STILL HAVE THIS

I have the white motor companies version of this tractor and these tractors are not that rare.

I just got a mtd similar to yours I think it's one size smaller it has 12'' rims I was going to rip it apart for the rear end hood and grill but it's a crazy heavy duty tractor too so I am having second that's about ripping it apart I think its worth restoring you don't see many garden tractors like these anymore.
