Glad that NASA using data they got from Russian NK-93!
-
Has anyone come up with a working substitute for oil yet?
-
This was a very open look at some really great technology. However I am wondering why there was no mention of the #LENR powered aircraft that Doug Wells has been working on at Langley Research Center with Zawodny and Bushnell.

It is the same documentary twice ?

good

Very nice BUT RR still lead them by at least 5 years. They had to borrow their first jet from UK LOL The lead time on aircraft is at least 25 years Operator are just not going to spend the money to save $10 Wounder what they are really up to? Job provision? If they keep at it they will catch up withe the racing car industry LOL Load of BS.

This is not the future of aviation.
If you want to truely look into the future of aviation, look towards electric supersonic VTOL aircraft....
Sound familiar to anyone? -
i think combustion falls into the role of being stationary and for transitional purposes, giving the "evolutionary" kick start if you will to electromagnetism and becoming lighter and more refined for sustain in a universe of constant expansion.
-
Yet again another shit attempt from nasa.

If you really want to know something, NASA does not fund these research programs. Virtually every NASA research program was funded by DARPA, the US Navy, or US Army. Boeing did not build the first all composite aircraft, that was done by Scaled Composites and Burt Rutan. The reason why all composite aircraft did not come sooner is prior experience showed with home construction aircraft and up to the Beechcraft 2000 "Starship", had numerous issues with fuselage soundness especially with composite materials. Secondly Composites are not impervious to lightning strikes, an issue which has not entirely been resolved.
The open rotor concept, or Unducted Fan Engine was pursued by McDonnel Douglas for the DC-9 series, Super 80 series, as it was then a 30 percent fuel improvement over current engines. The counter-rotating prop noise prevented the engine from passing noise standards. The Russian Tu-95 bomber which used an early version of the counter rotating propeller system was so noisy that submarines could detect them even while submerged. Engines like the Kuznetsov NK-93 are the best of both worlds between regular turbofan engines and Unducted Fan Engines, and have shown a 25-30% fuel savings over traditional turbofan engines. -
You know what the thumbnail is? Bullshit.

Instead of being inventing aircraft with different styles end never end up being produced in series, because no try to invent an airplane that is safe in case of a fall or do not fall? Since the 40's invent model that go nowhere and the old is always in style which avenges in aircraft !!!
-
If nasa really wants to revamp and make aircraft better they need to make energy on the aircraft and make engines that use electricity or the energy that the aircraft makes

China doesn't need to spend a lot of money for RD and may be won't make it, why don't copy the technology of the world and make the same thing, it's easy and cheaper, just send students to develop country like US to study and work for a while then go back to China to continued to copy and it could be better. Smart move China.
