The rocket exploded six seconds after lift-off from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport on Wallops Island in Virginia. Engineers said there were no problems reported before the launch, and say they have 'no early indications' of what went wrong. 'A mishap has occurred. we have lost the vehicle,' controllers said seconds after blast off. Disaster: The unmanned Antares rocket bound for the ISS explodes just six seconds after take-off in a septacular fireball Orbital Sciences' executive vice president Frank Culbertson said the company carried insurance on the mission, which he valued at more than $200 million, not counting repair costs. The explosion hit Orbital Science's stock, which fell more than 15 percent in after-hours trading. The Orbital Sciences Corp had scheduled the launch of its Antares rocket for 6.22pm Eastern time October 27. Conditions for the launch were perfect - but as it left the launchpad, the rocket exploded. Officials said there were no casualties from the explosion -and the damage was contained to the launch facility. 'This is a tough evening,' said Culberston, saying Orbital Sciences is working with the FAA to investigate the explosion. We want to express our disappointment, especially to the researchers who had science on board. 'It's not as tragic as losing a life - and we are happy to report there were no injuries. 'Something went wrong, and we will find out what that it - and we will come back here and fly again in the near future.' He also urged the public to stay away from debris. NASA has revealed its plans to create the coldest spot in the known universe on board the International Space Station in 2016. The researchers are preparing to study matter at temperatures near absolute zero, revealing the world of quantum mechanics. Russia may pull the plug after 2020 on the International Space Station (ISS). Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, according the Interfax news agency. It is a response to economic sanctions by the United States and Europe. The ISS is a joint project of Russia, the United States, Europe, Japan and Canada. The five participants decided several years ago to continue the ISS project in any case until 2020. Russia is important for the survival of the ISS, because the crew is launched from a Russian space base. It is not the first time that Rogozin fences with the consequences of the tensions around Ukraine for space. When Washington last month extended the sanctions, the Deputy Prime Minister wrote on Twitter: “I suggest that America will take astronauts to the ISS with a trampoline.” Russia, will also forbid the United States to use Russian rocket engines. Russian rocket engines are used by the America to brings intelligence and communications satellites in orbit around the earth. Traces of sea plankton and other microorganisms have been found on the surface of the International Space Station (ISS), say Russian scientists

Air pocket in the fuel load.
-
That engine was made in russia o dear
-
Well, I guess they needed Wernher von Braun and his team to realize success :)
-
I hate that they lost the rocket but I think its funny as hell that all those greenhouse gasses went into the atmosphere lmao. I'll bet that all the little psychotic, pea brained, liberal, environmentalists are freaking out over it. Hahaha fck you liberal treehugging pieces of trash. How do you like that? NASA's going green.

It's ridiculous that NASA is using this archaic method when they know (and are using) zero gravity power. Waste of our citizens' tax dollars.
It's also interesting that the day BEFORE the rocket was to be launched there was indication that this rocket would fail. For more: http://beforeitsnews.com/conspiracy-theories/2014/10/cyber-attack-and-emp-planned-for-antares-rocket-launch-on-oct-28-2014-2466090.html -
That's 2 Russian rocket engines to go lately, weird. Why didn't the US use their own in this rocket?
-
Sure had many of the hallmarks of a nuclear explosion.
-
Interesting the plane footage has light and the ground footage is dark,is it the same rocket??
-
Замечательно!!!!!!!!! Просто шикарно!!!))))))
-
I hope the people in the space station are Preppers, That rocket had 5000 lbs of food on it!!!!

someone has a particle beam weapon, and isn't afraid to use it.
