MANILA -- A woman died while her two children were wounded after being hit by a dump truck in Quezon City late evening Thursday. Racquel Mancia, 28, was hit by a dump truck along Commonwealth Avenue in North Fairview while she was with her infant daughter and three-year-old son. Mancia was pinned under the truck, resulting in her death. Her two children, meanwhile, were brought to the hospital after sustaining injuries. Mancia's relatives said the victim just accompanied her husband who was on his way to work when the accident happened. They said it was the first time that Mancia accompanied her husband on the way to work. Dump truck driver Ruben Paraiso said he lost control of his truck after its brakes failed. He said he resorted to hitting the gutter instead of ramming the vehicles in front of him. Paraiso, 59, is facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. -- report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
