Good job, where did you get OEM Tonka decals?
-
You forgot to mention that the tabs on back of the rims will sometimes break when you knock them out

Hello Sam Ting, I like what you're doing with these Tonka's. They look great. I have Mighty Tonka's too and I hope you can help me with some questions. What kind and what size of rivets do you use to reattach the bumper and what tools do you use to get them of and put them back on? Hope you can help me. Kind regards, Jeroen Stobbe

Sam, I am beginning a restoration process on 1978 Era Tonka Trucks. My first attempt will be the Dump Truck you have so elegantly restored in your video. My questions revolve around sourcing replacement parts. Can you please provide a vendor contact name, email, or phone number for locating replacement parts? Specifically, I'm seeking out the PMS Yellow color number, or brand and color of the primary Yellow paint.. Can you please help with this. I am also seeking replacement axles and new wheels. Any assistance will be appreciated. Thank you.

Do you use a special tote to hold the acid? or do regular plastic totes work? I'm assuming you just re-use the same acid and don't dispose of it.

This was super helpful. Did you replace the rivets with the same kind of rivets?? If so, where did you find them? And do they fit in a traditional rivet gun?
-
Thank you so very much for this Video. I have several Tonkas on their way to us now for my Son and, a few will need work. With your guidance here and my automotive paint experience, I am now confident to tackle this and can't wait to get started. Your restoration work and production quality is excellent!

Can you recommend a rivet tool that will work for the classic mighty dump truck? Where you able to hammer in the new rivets, or did it require a tool to get them in cleanly? Also, what size rivets? (assuming all 6 are the same size). Or do you just replace rivets with bolts/nuts?
-
Where did you get the windshield replacement?
-
No, other than washing the tires with some soapy water, I don't do anything to the tires. I do repaint the lettering and numbers with white acrylic paint and a very fine brush. It really helps if you have a steady hand.
-
nice work. question, do you do any tire restoration on these trucks. I did see you painted the rims yellow, but did see you do any thing on the black part of the tire itself
-
Hey there, would you know what size replacement axle caps these old tonkas use, 3/16? thanks
