Sundex 4HP built by H V Mckay (Sunshine). These engines were built between 1926 and 1934, prior to the production of the commoner Sundial engines. The Sundex is robustly built. It is a petrol kero engine designed to be started on petrol from a small chamber on the carburetter and then changed over to kerosene from the main tank below the crankcase from which it is pumped by a simple brass pump attached to the exhaust valve operating rod. H V McKay started his business in Ballarat, Victoria but moved to Sunshine in the western suburbs of Melbourne.
