70K isn't unrealistic. Expect an average salary of $110,000+ pa. for first year marine engineers in Australia on tankers and bulk carriers. More on FPSO's. True story.

Take mathematics, physics and design/technology at school when you get the chance to choose at 16+ then try and get onto a practical trade apprenticeship with a college or if you are smart enough, take a University degree in marine engineering. Joining the Navy aged 16 or 18 would be a good step. They would pay for your degree course if you can get sponsorship.

Im a 13 year old and I really want to be a marine engineer when I grow up any tips?

well, it depends a lot of the country where u from, and under which flag, and dozens of other factors, but the usual salary in the beginning of the engineer career is around 3000 euros monthly for 3rd, but salaries on tankers and lng are usually higher. still 70k is exaggerated.

i really doubt that he is going to be making 70k right after graduation. maybe in 8 or so years 70k is real, but until that its around 40, atleast for me, im 3 engineer 24 yrs old
