At about 7:30 a.m., the incident began near the Deseret Industries near American Fork. Police say the suspect, Stephen White, slashed a man with a knife or box cutter and stole his vehicle. The man suffered minor lacerations. Nearly every agency in the county assisted on the incident as a countywide attempt to locate was broadcast at about 8 a.m. White, 30, from Magna, then stole multiple vehicles, from trucks to sedans, as he drove through American Fork to Pleasant Grove and Lehi, and eventually left the county. The chase slowed in Magna after the suspect, driving a white dump truck towing a trailer, drove over spike strips. He finally came to a stop at a barricade near 9180 West 2700 South, according to Lt. Justin Hoyal with the Unified Police Department. White was not cooperative with officers, so tear gas was used in the truck. He ran out the passenger door, but was apprehended into custody. White will be facing charges for the pursuit, vehicle theft, and aggravated assault, Hoyle said. Police say White carjacked six vehicles in total, including the dump truck. _________________________________________________________ (Video posted strictly for educational and informational purposes) Police Center in your source for police related news and events.
