In case you didn't read my earlier post..this driver was fresh out of AIT and we were in a secure area in Bosnia...
-
The M728 that was assigned in B Co 8th Eng. 1st Cav. was down with hydro problems. The blade was repaired before we went on Reforger 79. Does anyone remember when a detachment from Ft. Hood, 1st Cav went to the Blizzard on the East Coast in 1978. We stayed in Hartford, Conn. inside an old NG Armory.

I served with the 8th Engineers, Ft Hood, TX from 77 through 80. Went to the REFORGER 79. I was with B Company. I was also with the 197th INF at Fort Benning in 1980. I was trying to see who was driving the M728....There was a SSgt Davis and a SPC 4 Edwards that was in B Company.
-
Drove one for 6 years from 75 to 80, Well I should say I continually worked on them and when ever they were running i got to drive them.

BOSNIA 96-97 - 16th engineers (Bamberg, Germany) in Bosnia. half way through we were reflagged to the 54th engr bn. this was my unit. the driver was fresh outta AIT and as this area was secure, he was in training. The TC was SSG MALDONADO. our bn had a 12c and heavy junk (62f,e,j etc) bn attached to us. we built the float bridge across the sava and clear all American routes. we then built up bases, tore down bunkers and check points.. we also had AVLBs and etc. Attached to the 1/1 Cav.
-
@palonejr I agree with you, the driver must have been afraid of his tank. I trained my drivers to bust through a obs, and to floor it when driving cross country-so we didn't get stuck.
-
@Stovepipe2222 when were you with the 58TH, when I was there we didn't have any AVLB s. they weren't in our TO&E.
-
The driver needs to reverse father back and get some momentum to punch through that barrier. Rookie, It sounds good to hear the turbochargers again. I drove one of these in Germany. It was my first RV. Bobby 8TH Infantry Division 1974
-
@rhamilton52 I was with the 58th from 72 to 74 (june), for awhile just before I shipped out they put me in the adm plt. for a long time I was the only NCO in the section. remember Gardener or freeman? I can't remember your name off hand, mine was SGT Root, if you were not able to tell from my email address- ssggbroot@netscape.net. sorry it took so long to get back to you, but work has been very hard lately.
-
