Machines | LSAT Light Machine Gun Test Fire Demonstration
videos | at work | information | view | construction
Soldiers and U.S. Army civilians test fired a new lighter machine gun called the LSAT at Marine Corps Base Quantico, Va., June 24. The new weapon is designed to replace light machine guns, such as M249 and M240. LSAT with 600 rounds of ammunition will weigh 23.8 pounds, representing 38% reduction from the current 38.3 pounds.

fuck caseless ammunition that's why we train our us marines and soldiers to carrysomuch it hasalways been like that
-
very good, but I would like to see the caseless version, which seems to be even better on paper. Caseless weapons seem to be the best alternative ever since the H&K ACR was introduced to replace the AR-15 style weapons in our arsenal
-
The USA had been looking to replace its arsenal for awhile, many different companies are showing off their assault rifles (bushmaster, Kel-Tech, FNH) trying to get the U.S. Military to choose theirs, it's good to know they're doing it to the LMGs too, we've used the M16/M4A1 for quite some time, it's nice to see them try and keep things up to date

the south korean K-3 could be a good replacement.
much lighter than the M249 and has a 900RPM quicker rate of fire. -
The fact that the ammo is not interchangeable and lack of the weapon not being user friendly. Also the lack of knowledge on how you dis and Ass this weapon. I'm also quite sure jamming will be an issue with so many moving parts with this weapon being in a volatile environment. HK's new design seems more logical seeing how it uses ammunition already in surplus and it would not be to unfimilar to the average marine/soldier used to the SAW/ M16 designs.

The army uses smaller units. Therefore the m27's 30 round capacity isnt considered a large enough volume of fire to maintain fire superiority. Perfect for larger marine infantry units though.
-
Hmm. Increased accuracy isn't surprising, (the M249 makes the AK look inherently precise), but reduction in recoil? That's a surprise...
-
More lighter is more better, easy to carry. Very nice improvement.

Is this the Negev?
-
Is this meant to replace the m249? If so what about the m27 that's also meant to do that
-
The SAW (FN - Minimi) is good gun but it is somewhat front heavy due to the barrel and the ammo (depending if you have 200 or 100 round box). Something like this would have been a dream to use :)

The LSAT is gonna win
-
that gun is in bo2 and ghosts

Why does learning about a firearm through a video game make me a brainless dumb ass? All the game did was give me enough interest to research the gun and see what it's all about. Before playing the game I had no idea this even existed. haha.
-
Well, they should also apply the same idea on the M240.. that's a really big machine gun.
-
This program deserves more attention and funding. I've fired M60's and such before and based on the feedback of those soldiers, this technology would be greatly appreciated.

AR in the AR rifles has always stood for ArmaLite. Just because seems like it should stand for Assault Rifle doesn't mean it does. Take for example: 1/cosin = secant but 1/sin = cosecant. In common sense, one would think that cosecant correlates to cosin, but sadly it does not. Just because something makes sense doesn't mean it's true.
-
Seriously? ...Even without my extensive background in weapons technology, I could tell your statement is wrong just from general knowledge. ArmaLite is an arms manufacturer. If one were to correctly abbreviate ArmaLite it would be "AL" and not "AR". "AR" always has, and always will, refer to an Assault Rifle. Example: ArmaLite makes a premium quality AR-10 in different variations - MEANING that ArmaLite makes a premium quality 'Universal Model 10' Assault Rifle available to the public.

Remember it's an experimental weapon so it's still has undergoing changes before it's ready for production, so I feel pretty safe to say: you're a snob.
