Machines | Lock n' Load with R Lee Ermey Machine Guns Part 2
videos | at work | information | view | construction
When today's warriors go toe-to-toe in combat the weapon they rely on is the machine gun. From the crude machines of the 19th century to the slick weapons of today, Gunny takes us on a journey that looks at the engineering development of this rapid-fire battle winner. Learn how the "potato digger" machine gun got it's name, and why a hand held gun developed in 1965 is still the weapon of choice for the toughest warriors on the planet. Ermey compares the machine guns that stormed the beaches of D-Day--the Bren gun and the B.A.R.--with a classic shooting match. Then, Gunny cuts loose with the Special Forces wonder weapon, the MP-5, as used by the British SAS and American navy Seals. Not only will you see these weapons in action. but with cutting-edge 3D GFX you will go inside the weapons--to see close up and personal the mechanism, operation and evolution of the machine gun. assault rifles weren't even made, most rifles and smg's were just used for a similar purpose
-
It's funny that the 5.56 round in the saw is the same as the m16 and the 7.62x39 from the soviet kalashnikov is the same round as the AK-47
-
Gunny forgot to mention that the British also universally used the .303 primarily when the Bren was used for most of its life. In fact most members of a squad would carry magazines for it.

You're so god damn ugly you could be a modern art masterpiece.
I love you Gunny.
Hit the weights Gunny, that BAR would be like a broom to you. -
Am I the only one who cringed when he poured water on that hot barrel?
-
Well if he loaded ut right he wouldn't have a problem. Loading a gun is muscle memory you don't look down to shove a mag into the well,

I don't understand why the IJA prefers the Hotchkiss copy (actually designed by Benet and Mercie) rather than Maxim/Vickers? ... the Japs also produced Maxim-style beltfed MGs but they mounted these on their aircrafts and not the army!
And don't forget that the Japs also have LMGs similar to the BREN (both are the copy of Czech LMG designs), but with bayonet mount. -
Funny browning jokes

Did anyone else notice Gunny pronouncing "Guantanamo bay" as "Guantamano bay"? Lol I love when they try to make Gunny look smart, the man is a gunnery sergeant not a historian!
-
I would've called it the Grave Digger
-
But, if the air cooled was mounted on something like a helicopter, the increased altitude of flight, the increased wind and such would help cool it more, whereas having a water cooled gun on a helicopter would just add unnecessary weight... Right?
-
sorry browning but every designer has to have one mediocore design and sadly the BAR was yours
-
Why did he shoot the mp5 like that lol
-
the first gun i shot was a mp5
-
I'd say the BAR is more of an early assault rifle
-
He shot all that beer :(

We 'found' a Bren in Northern Iraq in 2006. Lovely gun to fire, until our CO's confiscated it.
