Hi I have just bought a tar machine powered by PETTER LISTER AA1 I havnt tried to start it yet as it's been sat unused for ten years just ordered oil filter fuel filter and air filter I will be replacing these first I have drained fuel and getting tank cleaned and painted I was wondering if there's any Comon problems or any other parts I could clean or change to improve performance of make it easier to start im also wanting to put a string on to start t of possible. If anyone has any info that may help me also can I easily take off fuel pump or injector to clean or is this complicated / risky Thanks. I will be putting a video of my machine on YouTube today and tomorrow when it's light. It will be down as. Petter lister AA1 tar machine

like the lister engines use to work on them at B/A we had 3x cylinder air cooled engines in a little tug to tow the luggage at gatwick
-
thanks the throttle is a little agricultural Im thinking maybe a project where I can just keep the throttle steady
-
It should run fine in a motorbike.

thanks for your comment I have a 240volt alternator I plan to put it on one of my 3 lister engines when I get some time. I need to start the engines they havent run for over 12 months I have a range from yanmar diesel to honda to villiers LPG powered but my listers are the ones I enjoy listening to even if it is from a short distance.

I have one almost identical. When I was at college I made it into a generating set with a 3kVA generator running at 3000 rpm. It runs out of puff at about 2.5kW/kVA and just manages to boil a 2.5 kW kettle. Very, very reliable. I was 16 when I made the set, I am 37 now and it still works well. It is as noisy as it is reliable so a long cable is well recommended to keep it as far away as possible when it is working! I use it to power the tv, fridges and freezers when the power goes out.

Nice running old motor! Thank you for Subbing me. I did the same.

the engine may be a little loose its about 30 years or more old. I dont think theres much to worry about I have 3 of these engines and they all sound very similar and one of the engines is like new.

that clunking, is it healthy? mine also makes it, and i'm not sure if its right or not.

That sounds really good.

@PissOnJapScrap thinking about it maybe the diesel would be too heavy as its 3 or more times heavier than a standard briggs. maybe one of the modern diesels they are much lighter.
